My Story
I did the thing most people do- go to college, get a degree, choose a path, do more schooling, thinking there was only one way to live and I had to fit into a box doing it.
I had two days left of my Physical Therapy clinical and could not finish. I was in a state of deep shut-down, depression, and dissociation, in an environmental that completely drained me. I hit rock bottom. It was ugly. I didn’t ask for help until I was desperate enough. I was hospitalized for two weeks and my life took a turn afterwards. I was in a raw and vulnerable state of questioning everything in life, and came to the realization that I could choose what I would do next.
I decided to go to India to study yoga-to be out of the US and exposed to a different culture. I fell in love with everything about India- the people, the smells, the chaos in the city, and mostly the eastern practices I had learned there- meditation, asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath work), and yoga philosophy. I had the best teachers that made me look at life, human-ness, culture, and society with a different lens.
I spent time healing from the trauma of my breakdown. I built a beautiful relationship with God and used my training in yoga to help me heal. In addition to the 500 hr Yoga Certification, I also obtained a Sound Healing certification and purchased fourteen Tibetan sound bowls that I use in my practice today. I developed a prayer and meditation practice, journaled, and leaned into community and my relationships with others.
After my breakdown, my life didn’t suddenly become better instantly. It took work, and I went through a lot of ups and downs. I began to realize that there is no one “solution” to healing and living a peaceful, fulfilled life, but rather many different tools to create balance. I slowly began to recognize the things that were serving me and the things that were not and little by little made progress. “Healing” isn’t something you arrive to, but rather it is a lifelong journey-and it can be really enjoyable! Now I am in a state of ease, just knowing that I am truly on the right path living in alignment with my self. The trials and tribulations were so worth it. And I am stronger because of it.
My journey brought me to where I am today- I help people who feel stuck, burnt out, yearning for something greater, a change, you name it. I’ve been through it, and would love to work with you as you navigate this life. As crazy as it can be, yes you can create the life that you want and deserve. I am here for you :)
Love,
Erin
